2017 · WHERE IT STARTED

We launched the new visual education system at the Melbourne location and the business really blew up. Sales were at $25k-$35k a month and the owners were hoping to get to $45k-$60k a month. They actually went to $80k-$120k and it was insane. Visually educating people proved to make the ordering process happening faster [this may seem logical but I have debated this with restaurants for 25 years at this point]. The more someone knows, they more they can tell someone else [“Word of Mouth”] It also made ordering faster.

Someone wanted to invest in a location for themselves and they called me in to design and develop a design process I could continue to each location build and keep the brand exciting and consistent.

DISCOVERY SESSION

I reviewed the location they had picked and went over the ordering process and how the kitchen would be set up to accommodate this. We were working from a semi blank slate.

The before and after photos will tell the story and I designed, sourced and built everything from scratch utilizing the new owners husband who was a skilled HVAC contractor and a great production team player. Together with a few extra hands we customized the location you see here.

2017 · I HAD A VISION

When it’s done it’s loved and adored, it adds an entire other dimension to the entire room while seamlessly screaming the theme in silence.

Though initially trying to explain creativity without creating un-neccessary budget issues is an art in itself.

Painting the wall or adding wall textures wasn’t giving enough of the room wow factor effect we wanted. It was going to be a slight budget increase but have a far greater impact and was realistically a similar cost with far more of a wow factor.

To help this process I sought out the skillset of local muralist Christopher Maslow.

MURALIST MATCHES THE VISION

I met with Christopher and showed him a color palette matching the room, along with the idea that we were underwater and light from up above is shining down from the corner, as if we were below the water under a boat.

We custom built the counters and tables from scratch. Sourced bases for the tables so they were secure and met the stylistic design we wanted, painted them black and then proceeded to cut MDF, cover in custom vinyl, created a custom cut metal frame and poured a slightly tinted resign to secure the look and feel.

All tables and counters were custom created to not only match the brand but the ongoing specs for future locations.
